Instructions for visiting the museum
Would you like to prepare yourself for your visit to the museum in advance? Here are some instructions for and tips on how to act in the museum.

Welcome to the museum
Admission is free, so you do not have to buy a ticket. An information desk with staff is located in the lobby.
The museum participates in the Museum Card program, but since admission is free, showing the card is not required. If you would like your visit recorded in your Museum Card app, this can be done at the information desk.
You may carry a bag or backpack. If you wish, you can leave coats, umbrellas, and other belongings in the coat rack or lockers.
At an exhibition
Please be considerate of other visitors and the exhibits. Our rooms are relatively small, so we advise you to move calmly to avoid bumping into other people or exhibits.
Do not touch museum objects. They are usually placed behind a glass, or there is a sign banning touching near them. There may, however, be some exhibits that can be touched and tested. If you are unsure whether it is allowed to touch some exhibit, ask the staff.
Since the museum constitutes a public place, photography is allowed. Do not, however, take photos of other people without their permission. When sharing photos, remember to credit Vantaa City Museum.
Weekday mornings are often busy with school groups; afternoons are usually quieter. On the last Thursday of each month from 16:00 to 18:00, “Quiet Hours” are held with no tours or events, offering a calm experience, especially for neurodivergent visitors.
Exhibitions are on two floors. The second floor can be accessed by the elevator or the stairs.
Food and snacks
You may eat your own snacks in the waiting room unless a workshop or event is taking place. The museum has no café, but several cafés and restaurants are within walking distance.
Visiting the museum with children
Children are the responsibility of accompanying adults.
Strollers are allowed, and the second floor is accessible by elevator from the waiting room.
The accessible restroom includes a changing table and a potty.
A safe museum visit
Vantaa City Museum is a discrimination-free zone. Our museum does not tolerate any discrimination, humiliation, derision, or bullying. We respect one another's mental and physical states.
We do not make assumptions based on, for example, sex, background, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, functional capacity, or wealth.
