The Helsinki Parish Village in Vantaa

Blog Museon muruja

This idyllic village, Kirkonkylä, has been preserved between two main roads - Tuusulantie and Ring Road III. It is not just an ordinary village, as it was long the centre of the present-day Helsinki capital area.

The area has managed to retain its traditional appearance. Although time seems to have stood still, the village is actually very lively. This is thanks to the oldest village school in use in Finland, a wide range of events and of course the residents. The villagers maintain a sense of community and take care of their old and valuable buildings. If you ask those who live in the Kirkonkylä, they will tell you it’s the centre of the world.

Clicking on the link below will take you to a map page with the locations of the old houses in the village. Clicking on the red house icons on the map will open information boxes with information about the history of the buildings.
